So, you have opted for a metrics-based approach using the logical framework as the template that will guide your M&E work.

Before choosing your preferred method of data collection, make sure you know the meaning of as well as the advantages/ disadvantages of:

• Quantitative Data Collection & Analysis Techniques  

• Qualitative Data Collection & Analysis Techniques

Choosing Your Preferred Method

Step 2 is going to involve you collecting hard data in order to measure your progress and satisfy your funders. You could clearly opt for qualitative methods (e.g. interviews, participant observation, Most Significant Change techniqueand focus groups) or quantitative data collection and analysis (DCA) techniques.

But as the latter are better at gathering statistics and measurable data, you might consider one of these largely quantitative techniques:

• Survey/ Questionnaire
• Randomised Trials
• Analysis of Project Records
